This years NSDRA Amsnow/Torco Super Sled Shootout was another big hit. Jamie Bellman spent countless hours putting together an awesome race with big support from many sponsors. Racers came from near and far to compete in several different categories. Overall there were a few less racers than last year but that was to be expected with the higher travel cost that we are all experiencing. In all there were about 140 snowmobiles that competed in 6 different classes 3 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. We couldn’t have asked for better weather this late in the year. I think it is save to say that everyone had a great time.
On Saturday, there were 57 sleds that entered the bracket class. After several rounds of eliminations, the final came down to two Amsnow regulars:
Jeff Jaquish vs. Frank Bombe
Frank dialed a 9.07 and Jeff a 10.22. Jeff left first with a .096 light, but broke out by .001 with a 10.219 ET @ 122.28mph.
Frank rolled a little during staging and deactivated the tree, therefore throwing a red light instantly and handed Jeff Jaquish his third Bracket Challenge Championship. Jeff took home a check for $1500.00 and Frank 500.00
The All Motor Shootout on Saturday saw a field of 16 sleds with Edwin Wirbel taking the #1 qualifying spot with an 8.30 @ nearly 152 mph. The final elimination came down to Edwin vs. "FAST" Eddie Ensor on the Bray Racing 1500. Edwin took home his first win of the weekend and collected $2000.00 Following is the qualifying order and elimination ladder.

The Big Twin Shootout saw only 4 entries, but Glenn Hall was one of the four. He qualified #1 with a track spinning 8.32 @ 154mph. Glenn also took a decisive win over Adam Fricke in the final with an 8.24 to Fricke's losing 9.18.

The Sunday bracket racing saw some familiar names in the final 5, with all of them being Great Lakes Dragway regulars and two of them named Jaquish. When the final round went to the line, it was Dave Alberson squaring off against the Aaen sponsored sled of Butch Veltum. Veltum took the win with a .009 light on a double breakout pass and collected the $1500
The Open Shootout on Sunday was definitely the Glenn Hall show as he took the #1 qualifying spot with an 8.006 @ 164 mph. Glenn's stellar performance once again took him to the final round against Adam Fricke and his newly built 1500. Once the light flashed, Hall raced to his second win of the weekend with a killer 7.99 @ 162 mph, backing up his semi-final run of 7.97. Back to back 7 second runs during the amsnow shootout are a first and his entire team should take a lot of pride in their accomplishments.

The Pro Stock 1000 class had 15 entries, but 4 dropped out due to breakage, leaving 11 to fight it out during eliminations. Edwin Wirbel once again took the #1 spot on his new Louie Bilt Proline prostocker with a 8.44 @ 150 mph. Rich Daly and Ron Bray were #2 and #3 in the order. After some stressful rounds, the final was set: Wirbel vs. Anthony Mini on the Petschke racing Pro Stock Skidoo. The lights flashed and we got to see a good final round run with Wirbel's 8.54 edging out a nice 8.61 @ 150 by Mini. Congratulations Wirbel family on the second win of the weekend and defending both of last year's class wins.
